Jennifer Council , Southern Oregon Technology Consultant

Jenny Council

Jenny is netCorps' first "field staff", working directly with nonprofit organizations in Southern Oregon. Now splitting her time between Roseburg and Medford, Oregon, she gave up a hectic life in London a few years ago to live out in the Oregon woods. Jenny earned a Bachelor degree in Philosophy and Politics at the University of Liverpool, and qualified in counseling and psychotherapy at the University of East London.

In addition to volunteering for and serving on the Boards of a number of nonprofits, Jenny has over twelve years of experience supporting a range of technology issues for small, medium and large commercial businesses and nonprofits in her professional life. She also chaired the Computer Support Worker’s Forum, a network which promoted good technology practice in London’s nonprofit sector. Her technology expertise includes database design and support, network and server-related systems, help-desk management and website design. When not out working with nonprofits, Jenny can be found trying to get her wood stove started, learning congas or hiking in the forest.

Aliya Abbasi, Basebuilding Initiative Project Coordinator

Aliya Abbasi

Aliya worked for two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA before coming on staff full-time as the Project Coordinator for the Basebuilding Initiative, an outgrowth of the LEAP project. Her previous experience includes working with people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, technology training, advertising and marketing, and recruiting. She hopes to contribute to netCorps' efforts at "bridging the digital divide" with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Aliya received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.

Matthew Latterell
, Executive Director

Matthew Latterell

Matthew has over eighteen years experience in the world of nonprofit and higher education technology planning, assistance and management. Matthew joined the netCorps Board in 1997 and served as President of the Board from 1998-2000. Prior to becoming the ED of netCorps in 2001, Matthew worked as the Assistant Dean for Educational and Information Technology at the University of Oregon School of Law. As Executive Director, Matthew is responsible for fundraising, development and collaboration, as well as taking on special projects and initiatives.

Matthew recently moved from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, where he lives with his wife and daughter. When not eating, breathing and dreaming about nonprofit uses of technology, Matthew enjoys gardening, bike rides and sampling local brews and restaurants (Matthew is also the co-author of The Brewpub Explorer of the Pacific Northwest). Although lately it seems all energy is going in to fixing up the house and yard.

Joe Millon
, Managing Director

Joe joined netCorps in 1999, after three decades of business experience in Eugene. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon. In between his design and building projects, he found time to learn computer skills, starting with an old CPM computer. His non profit experience includes volunteering with several environmental groups and serving as a board member. Joe responsibilities include managing netCorps’ Oregon operations, technology infrastructure, and technology assessment and planning, and project management.

When he is not doing the netCorps thing, he is usually brewing beer, playing Ultimate Frisbee, windsurfing, cycling, and chasing his kids. His current project is renovating an old Mercedes to run on biodiesel and vegetable oil.

Hal Noble, Technology Consultant

Hal2

Hal has a B.S. in Computer Science and Technology and has worked in the computer field for the past 14 years as a system administrator, software project manager, database manager, programmer and independent consultant. He has served on the board of directors for a nonprofit charter school.

Hal promotes the idea that we are all one, that there is enough for all of us if we just use it properly, and that all mystery cables end *somewhere*. He lives in the country outside of Eugene where he and his family raise draft horses and heirloom apples. When not fixing computers or fences, Hal enjoys hiking and bicycling, or, sometimes, just out standing in his field.

Poppy Lochridge, Technology Consultant

Poppy Lochridge

Poppy started her career planning to be a school  counselor, and decried the school district's decision to institute more computer classes. "What am I going to do, analyze computers?" she asked. Little did she know that her prophecy would indeed come true.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University, and worked in the computer industry for 5 years as a support technician before joining netCorps. On weekends, she can frequently be found hunched over a camera somewhere in Willamette Valley.

Sean Watson, Technology Consultant

Sean WatsonSean bounced through Physics, Psychology and Neuroscience before finishing up with a B.S. in Computer Science from UNC Wilmington. He has worked in the field for 13 years and has been playing with computers since he was seven years old (Go PC Jr!). He has worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies including GE where he spent three years creating enterprise software solutions on shoestring budgets.

Sean believes in one simple equation: Technology + Citizenship = Infinite Possibilities. By empowering organizations with technology solutions, he achieves all of his goals at once: be a computer nerd, save the environment, promote human rights, create world peace. Needless to say, he was born to work for netCorps.
