special initiatives
From time to time NetCorps is fortunate enough to be able to focus a large amount of energy over an extended period of time on a specific issue, geography, or collaboration.
These "special initiatives" are incredibly valuable for both NetCorps--it is a chance to learn and really focus--as well as for the groups participating in the initiative.
Over the past several years we've engaged in several of these initiatives. Through them we've helped a lot of organizations build capacity and increase their program efforts, we've learned a tremendous amount about how to improve our own work, and we've forged partnerships that are still valuable today.

- Project Connect, 1999-2000
Project Connect was a partnership project between the Oregon office of NetCorps and the McKenzie River Gathering (MRG) Foundation designed to dramatically increase the communications and information management capacity of 24 MRG grantees.
- Project Impact, 2002
Project Impact supported the information technology and online abilities of ten LGBT and HIV/AIDS groups in Oregon.
Funded primarily by a challenge grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust (along with significant funding from other area foundations), this three-year initiative is supporting the technology needs of nonprofits in Southern Oregon.
- TAPP, 2003-2004
The TAPP program (Technology Assessment and Planning Project) was a partnership project between the North Carolina office of NetCorps and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro to provide a series of technology trainings to area nonprofits and detailed assessment and implementation support with six area nonprofits.
Funded through a grant from the Mott Foundation, this initiative is focusing NetCorps resources on building the capacity of ten groups around the Southeast United States working on freshwater ecosystem conservation issues.
