The Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides (NCAP) combines outreach, education, advocacy and organizing to protect the health of people and the environment by advancing alternatives to pesticides.  NCAP empowers communities to make change happen not only in their backyards and gardens, but also in their communities. 

Alabama Rivers Alliance, 2007

The mission of the Alabama Rivers Alliance is to protect and restore state rivers through water quality and quantity policy advocacy, restoration planning, grassroots organizing, and watershed education in order to achieve clean and healthy watershed ecosystems, healthy people, strong economies, and a functioning democratic system of government in Alabama.

Alaska Marine Conservation Council, Anchorage, AK, 2007

 The Alaska Marine Conservation Council is a community-based organization dedicated to protecting the long-term health of Alaska's oceans and sustaining the working waterfronts of Alaska's coastal communities. AMCC is working to protect and restore the marine environment through sustainable fishing practices, habitat protection, and local stewardship.

The Alaska Rainforest Campaign (ARC) is a coalition of national and Alaska conservation groups working to protect the remaining wildlands of the Tongass and Chugach National Forests from clearcutting and other harmful development.

 Cascadia Region Green Building Council, Portland, OR, 2007

The Cascadia Region Green Building Council is one of three original chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council. Founded in Oregon in December 1999, the chapter covers Oregon, Washington,  and British Columbia, but also includes members from Idaho and Montana.  Cascadia strives to become the first and last word on green building by forging alliances with organizations that have a stake in the future of this region.

CAUSA organizes, educates, and mobilizes to build power in the immigrant community.  Through networking with immigrant, religious, labor, youth, and ally organizations, CAUSA works to create a society that recognizes the contributions of immigrants and upholds the values of equality and respect.

Coosa River Basin Initiative, Rome, GA, 2005

The Coosa River Basin Initiative is a grassroots environmental organization based in Georgia with the mission of informing and empowering citizens so that they may become involved in the process of creating a clean, healthy and economically viable Coosa River Basin. Since 1992, CRBI has served as advocates for the wise stewardship of the natural resources of the Upper Coosa River basin, or watershed, which stretches from southeastern Tennessee and north central Georgia to Weiss Dam in Northeast Alabama.

Kentuckians for the Commonwealth is a 25 year-old community-based nonprofit working for social and environmental justice across the state of Kentucky. Recent campaigns include voter empowerment, organizing on coalfield issues and building strong leaders in local communities.

The League of Young Voters, 2007

The League makes politics relevant, fun and meaningful to young people. The League meets young people where they are, work on issues that affect their lives, and provide tools and training to make them viable players and winners in the political game.

Their long term strategy is to build an inspired, engaged and effective culture and community around youth participation. They're building permanent progressive youth-driven field and issue based campaigns that will build power to significantly impact local, state, and federal policy and elections nationwide. They expect it will take decades to achieve this scale, but we're in it for the long haul.

Lowcountry Open Land Trust, Charleston, SC, 2006

The Lowcountry Open Land Trust is a local land conservation organization that is focused on preserving natural and rural land along the coastal plain of South Carolina.  LOLT works with landowners to design conservation easements that preserve the natural landscape and protect wildlife habitat, water quality and historic resources, while promoting traditional uses such as agriculture, hunting and forestry.

North Carolina Coastal Federation, Newport, NC, 2005

The North Carolina Coastal Federation has worked with citizens to safeguard the state’s coastal rivers, creeks, sounds and beaches since 1982. The North Carolina Coastal Federation is the state's only non-profit organization focused exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy, and habitat preservation and restoration.

The North Carolina Housing Coalition works for decent, safe, and affordable housing that promotes self-determination and stable communities for low-income North Carolinians. Incorporated in 1988, the Coalition today includes a network of housing and service providers, members of the faith community, civic and elected leaders, representatives of business and industry and other advocates who believe that housing is a basic human need and the cornerstone of vibrant communities.

Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina, Raleigh, NC, 2004

Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the only statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all its forms. PCANC is a state chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America with a thriving statewide Prevention Network.  The PCANC Prevention Network consists of over 200 organizations and volunteers working to implement critical child abuse prevention programs in their local communities.
