Alabama Rivers Alliance, 2007
The mission of the Alabama Rivers Alliance is to protect and restore state rivers through water quality and quantity policy advocacy, restoration planning, grassroots organizing, and watershed education in order to achieve clean and healthy watershed ecosystems, healthy people, strong economies, and a functioning democratic system of government in Alabama.
Alaska Marine Conservation Council, Anchorage, AK, 2007
The Alaska Marine Conservation Council is a community-based organization dedicated to protecting the long-term health of Alaska's oceans and sustaining the working waterfronts of Alaska's coastal communities. AMCC is working to protect and restore the marine environment through sustainable fishing practices, habitat protection, and local stewardship.
Alaska Rainforest Campaign, Sitka, AK, 2006
The Alaska Rainforest Campaign (ARC) is a coalition of national and Alaska conservation groups working to protect the remaining wildlands of the Tongass and Chugach National Forests from clearcutting and other harmful development.
Cascadia Region Green Building Council, Portland, OR, 2007
The Cascadia Region Green Building Council is one of three original chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council. Founded in Oregon in December 1999, the chapter covers Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, but also includes members from Idaho and Montana. Cascadia strives to become the first and last word on green building by forging alliances with organizations that have a stake in the future of this region.
Catawba River Foundation, Charlotte, NC, 2005
The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation advocates for and secures protection and enhancement of the Catawba River, its lakes, tributaries and watershed so that it will always sustain the human and wildlife populations that depend on it for life.
CAUSA, Woodburn, OR, 2006
CAUSA organizes, educates, and mobilizes to build power in the immigrant community. Through networking with immigrant, religious, labor, youth, and ally organizations, CAUSA works to create a society that recognizes the contributions of immigrants and upholds the values of equality and respect.
Coosa River Basin Initiative, Rome, GA, 2005
The Coosa River Basin Initiative is a grassroots environmental organization based in Georgia with the mission of informing and empowering citizens so that they may become involved in the process of creating a clean, healthy and economically viable Coosa River Basin. Since 1992, CRBI has served as advocates for the wise stewardship of the natural resources of the Upper Coosa River basin, or watershed, which stretches from southeastern Tennessee and north central Georgia to Weiss Dam in Northeast Alabama.
Education for Liberation Network, Durham, NC, 2007
The Education for Liberation Network isa national coalition of teachers, community activists, youth, researchers and parents who believe a good education should teach people—particularly low-income youth and youth of color—to understand and challenge the injustices their communities face.
Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, 2006
Kentuckians for the Commonwealth is a 25 year-old community-based nonprofit working for social and environmental justice across the state of Kentucky. Recent campaigns include voter empowerment, organizing on coalfield issues and building strong leaders in local communities.
The League of Young Voters, 2007
The League makes politics relevant, fun and meaningful to young people.
The League meets young people where they are, work on issues that affect their
lives, and provide tools and training to make them viable players and
winners in the political game.
Their long term strategy is to build an inspired, engaged and effective culture and community around youth participation. They're building permanent progressive youth-driven field and issue based campaigns that will build power to significantly impact local, state, and federal policy and elections nationwide. They expect it will take decades to achieve this scale, but we're in it for the long haul.
Lowcountry Open Land Trust, Charleston, SC, 2006
The Lowcountry Open Land Trust is a local land conservation organization that is focused on preserving natural and rural land along the coastal plain of South Carolina. LOLT works with landowners to design conservation easements that preserve the natural landscape and protect wildlife habitat, water quality and historic resources, while promoting traditional uses such as agriculture, hunting and forestry.
Mobility International USA, Eugene, OR, 2004
Mobility International USA works to empower people with disabilities around the world to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development. Mobility International USA is a cross-disability organization serving those with cognitive, hearing, learning, psychiatric, physical, systemic, vision and other disabilities.
North Carolina Coastal Federation, Newport, NC, 2005
The North Carolina Coastal Federation has worked with citizens to safeguard the state’s coastal rivers, creeks, sounds and beaches since 1982. The North Carolina Coastal Federation is the state's only non-profit organization focused exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy, and habitat preservation and restoration.
North Carolina Conservation Network, Raleigh, NC, 2006
The North Carolina Conservation Network is a statewide network of over 120 environmental, community and environmental justice organizations focused on protecting North Carolina’s environment and public health. The NC Conservation Network supports, trains and coordinates diverse groups and directly advocates to achieve equitable and sustainable solutions for our environment.

The North Carolina Chapter, Society for Public Health Education Inc. (N.C. SOPHE) is a professional organization formed in 1965 to promote, encourage and contribute to the advancement of health of all people. N.C. SOPHE encourages its professional members to stay informed through continuing education, to strive to improve the practice of health education, and to make a positive contribution toward making health accessible to all people.
North Carolina Farm Transition Network, 2005
The North Carolina Farm Transition Network partners with organizations and professionals to provide resources to farm families across North Carolina who wish to keep their farms employed in agriculture as they pass from one generation to the next.
North Carolina Housing Coalition, Raleigh, NC, 2005
The North Carolina Housing Coalition works for decent, safe, and affordable housing that promotes self-determination and stable communities for low-income North Carolinians. Incorporated in 1988, the Coalition today includes a network of housing and service providers, members of the faith community, civic and elected leaders, representatives of business and industry and other advocates who believe that housing is a basic human need and the cornerstone of vibrant communities.
Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina, Raleigh, NC, 2004
Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the only statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all its forms. PCANC is a state chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America with a thriving statewide Prevention Network. The PCANC Prevention Network consists of over 200 organizations and volunteers working to implement critical child abuse prevention programs in their local communities.
Threshold Clubhouse, Durham, NC, 2006
Threshold works to improve the quality of life for adults with serious mental illness in Durham. Threshold is committed to facilitating personal well-being and community involvement through meaningful work and relationships. Threshold staff members put these commitments into practice by providing an environment of opportunities and supports that address the vocational, educational, social, recreational, and residential needs of those they serve.

leaders and amplifies the student voice at the local, state, and
national levels by mobilizing grassroots power to win concrete
victories on student issues.
The United States Student Association Foundation ensures the pipeline of effective student leadership by facilitating education, training and other development opportunities at national, state, and local levels in advocating for issues that affect students.
