Ten New Southeast Groups Selected to Participate in 2007-2008 Technology Project

netCorps is pleased to announce the ten newest Southeast U.S. environmental organizations chosen to receive technology assistance. Participating groups receive assistance with developing overall technology plans, identifying priorities within their plans, and purchasing and implementing the hardware, software and services associated with their top priorities.

New Websites Help Protect, Inspire and Educate

netCorps recently helped launch new websites for the Alaska Marine Conservation Council, the Education for Liberation Network and the Cascadia Region Green Building Council.

All three sites were developed with and are now managed by Plone, an open-source content management system that allows these organizations to easily update their websites right from any web browser....read more

Cool Tools I Like This Week

In our work of nonprofit technology assistance, we are asked to advise and support pretty much anything you can think of. Old equipment that really should have been retired years ago. Crazy and potentially inappropriate software someone's husband or kid or Board member just absolutely thought a group should use. I was even asked to help network a Nintendo DS for a group the other day to their wireless network. It's a game, no it's a computer, no it's...something.

So when some tools come across our radar that really do work well, are a good fit and actually help the groups we support, it is really exciting. Here are a few from the last couple weeks....read more

Idealware.org has quickly become one of our "go-to" sites for trusted and detailed reviews of tech tools and strategies for nonprofits. You can browse through all their resources at www.idealware.org. Their most recent article, "Affordable New Tools and Strategies for Online Activism", written by Alan Rosenblatt of the Center for American Progress, offers a wealth of possibilities for nonprofits looking to start using or improve their use of the web for organizing and activism.
