How Does it Work?

You submit your contact lists electronically to the Basebuilding Initiative; your list is cleaned up and matched against the state voter file, the national change of address database, and other public documents to provide you more information about the people on your list.  You get back data about your members that you can merge into your existing database: demographic information like race, age and gender; voting history; information about the neighborhood they live in; and changes of address and phone numbers.  Technical support is available to help you integrate your enhanced data into your existing database.  Additional analysis of how your organization compares to the rest of the community is provided.

Your list is never shared with anyone without your written permission.  All information is kept confidential under signed legal contracts.

501(c)(3) organizations can participate in list enhancement and non-partisan civic engagement projects.  501(c)(4) organizations must pay a fee based on fair market value for this list enhancement service.  Computer security and confidentiality agreements guarantee there is no risk to the integrity of participants’ lists.
